The average price for gas in the United States is currently above $4.50, with some states posting higher amounts than others. This has been the highest recorded since the summer of 2022.
Here in Illinois, gas prices are on the higher end – nearly approaching $5.00 on average. However, because most of the population in the state resides around Chicagoland, most should expect a slightly higher cost at $5.13. For those who live in the city of Chicago, expect prices to be at $5.33.
For those traveling across the border east to Indiana, you would be delighted to know that Indiana is currently posting the lowest gas prices in the entire nation, on average. Gas prices across the entire state sit at $4.01. There’s even better news for the Northwest Indiana counties, such as Lake, Porter, and La Porte. These counties collectively post an average gas price of $3.88.
